What is Aevo?
Aevo is a decentralized derivatives exchange running on its own OP Stack Layer 2. It offers options, perpetual futures, OTC trades and automated strategies from one margin account, with orders matched off-chain and settled on-chain.
Aevo's core exchange lists perpetuals and options on ETH, BTC and a growing set of altcoins, plus pre-launch token futures. Cross-margin, subaccounts and REST and WebSocket APIs are available, and the docs claim sub-10ms latency.
PERPS+ packages a perpetual position with options protection into one trade for defined-risk payoffs. Aevo OTC is an on-chain desk for altcoin options, and Aevo Strategies runs options vaults from the team behind the earlier DeFi options vaults. An MCP server gives AI agents access to the trading API, and builder codes let third-party apps route orders.
Architecturally, an off-chain order book and risk engine match trades, and settlement happens on the Aevo L2. Users deposit through published deposit contracts on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism and Base.
Aevo publishes a full fee schedule, including caps on options fees and per-network withdrawal costs. Staking the AEVO token gives fee discounts and boosted rewards, and the token is governed through Aevo Governance Proposals.
Good fit for
- Options traders who want on-chain settlement instead of a CEX
- API traders combining perps and options
Not ideal for
- Spot or memecoin traders
- Small accounts that will withdraw to Ethereum mainnet often
